Grandpa will now have an aide 5 days a week and a nurse once a week. The nurse comes for evaluation tomorrow and aide will start on Friday. Also can get respite help if Grandma needs to get out.

with all of the people coming up this weekend, i would like to remind people that i am not the only one who can take out the compost, ice cubes, or garbage.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT EMERGENCIES!

If there is an emergency at the house do not dial 911 but dial HOSPICARE phone number. This number is taped to all of the phones in the house. They have someone on duty 24 hours a day.

Everyone who visits Dad should try to get a flu shot - they are being offered around town - Rite-Aid is giving them October 21, 22, 23 for $30 (no doctor visit fee) and I would expect the Ithaca Free Clinic also will be doing this.

We are all "high priority" since visiting older folks regularly.

How did the visits go? Can I have an update on his health? I'm hypothesizing it is about the same. Also, just wanted to say hey to the family and ask is there a way to start a post?

Hey Kyle glad to see you posting. gpa's health is about the same. he has some weird drainage on his left hand which was previously swollen. I saw Dr. John at Max's pasta dinner and mentioned it. The nurse has been watching it and Dr. John did not know about it. The nurse comes tomorrow and Helen is hopeful that she will take a culture of the puss from gpa's arm to the lab. We shall see.

Dad moved to the residential hospicare facility on Wednesday. He'd been very worried and anxious ever since his knees buckled under when he was standing at his walker. Fortunately his aide was there and was able to get him back up but he started worrying about "what if...".

He seems to have settled in well and is resting nicely there. Anyone can visit at any time - he's in room 1; facility is on King Road.

They were meals there but he welcomes food from home as well. Likes cold things especially. We can store "stuff" in their communal refrig and freezer with label but should only be small amounts since space limited.

GO VISIT! One issue in his decision was his concern that some folks wouldn't visit him anymore. Please don't let that be the case.

Also please continue to stop in and visit Mom - she worries that she won't see folks as much any more!
