I'm still planning on working on stockings and have pushed homemade, edible, recycled (regift), etc. in past and still think that is good idea. Keep it simple and inexpensive.

Also, if we are driving to DC on 12/26 would it be easier if we pretended Christmas was on the 24th? Might be less frenetic the day before we leave.....thoughts?

I think Christmas on the 24th isnt a bad idea. When would it happen after church???

i think tat homemade gifts are good, but also i think that christmas should not just be homemade sthings because everyone is going to get the same stuff, jelly, salsa, cookies, and fudge.

christmas is about suprises and giving

also about the christmas on the 24th, i think that it is a good idea, but might not work, i wouldn't mind it being on the 25th. we would still have enough time to get to the wedding.

no to sound egocentric, but i think that we should have christmas and the wedding as 2 different, fun events, not as one fun event.

I agree that Christmas should be its own event! But don't feel like saying homemade, recycled, re-gifted, etc. means only fudge, salsa and such....I think we can be way more creative than that! But I am looking forward to some cookies for the holidays.

In checking calendar it looks like the 24th might be work day for some so might not work as a "calendar adjustment". Know who would have to work on the 24th?

it is that church is that night, and do we want to have christmas before church or after. i am not a fan of either. that is why i said the 25th i just think it would work better :P

I have to agree Max, I think that the 25th would work better. Maybe we could do a drawing for names, everyone gives something small to whom ever they like and then everyone give someone something nice. but we can set a limit like 50 dollars or 25. We could do it at thanksgiving and it can include whoever wants to join in, casual like. whats your thoughts???

although im glad u agree with me Em, i don't really like the drawing name because i don't know what people want, what might work is just giving to whom ever the giver as bought for. i am going to give everyone peanut brittle and cookies. some people may give bigger gifts to less people. (i expect that people's feeling wont get hurt)

on limiting the amount of money spent, i also disagree
someone can spent as much money as they feel comfortable spending.

I agree with Max. Let's just scale back to what is manageable and do what each is comfortable with. Go with the flow!

My post disappeared. max, you've told everyone what you're giving?

agree re 25th. money an object but also not. some people may not get something at christmas but when it feels rights. glad helen wants to continue being santa.
